STATE TREASURER Jim Zeigler

The first Alabama Tea Party Victory, was on Saturday, August 9, 2003, when the Billion Dollar Bob Tax plan went down in flames.
The tea party has historically been against all tax increases, with that historical beginning in 1773. On December 16, 1773, a group of colonists boarded ships and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party was the symbolic start of our battle against British tyranny and taxation. On Saturday, August 9, 2003, The Alabama Tea Party established itself as a political force, leading the attack on the Billion Dollar Bob Tax plan, which was the largest planned tax increase in Alabama's history.

Alabama Tea Party Coalition

Objectives and Statement of Purpose
by the 12 January 2013 State Conference Please address inquiries to: Pete Riehm priehm@bellsouth.net 251-442-4349
The federal government has abandoned any sense of fiscal responsibility and disregards, if not discounts, the unalienable rights of the states and the people. The Federal Executive Branch routinely subverts the Constitution, and Congress has proven ineffective in fulfilling its duties, much less defending its Constitutional powers. Furthermore, the Supreme Court has abdicated its role of upholding the Constitution.

Therefore, it has become apparent and necessary for the states and the people to reassert their rights. The Tea Party organizations of Alabama look to the state of Alabama to prepare for the impending Constitutional crisis by guaranteeing the sovereignty of the state and its citizens and ensuring the solvency of the state government and all state institutions.

It is our belief that, for the foreseeable future, the greatest duty of the state of Alabama, its government at all levels, and its elected officials, is to defend our state and our citizens from unjust and unconstitutional intrusions by the US Federal Government, as well as the imposition of international laws or directives which seek to infringe upon the natural rights and private lives of our citizens. Every Alabama public official has sworn an oath to uphold the Alabama Constitution, which states clearly in Article 1, Section 35 that, "The sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty and property, and when government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression." We call upon all public officials to uphold their sacred oaths and to fulfill their duties - as they have sworn to do.

Alabama Patriots

The independent Tea Party organizations of the state here assembled as the Alabama Patriots Tea Party Coalition request that the Legislature of Alabama examine every bill and ensure that it first, preserves the sovereignty of Alabama and the people, or more specifically defends and upholds our Constitutional rights against all enemies foreign and domestic. And second, all proposed and enacted legislation is consistent with a balanced budget. The state must reform many programs and reduce spending, but the ultimate goal should be to once again attain a constitutionally balanced budget; to repay the monies appropriated from the Alabama Trust Fund (ATF); and to create surpluses exclusive from the ATF to weather a troubled future.
The Alabama Constitution directs the legislature to pass a state budget as the first priority in each annual session. Unfortunately, state budgets are routinely pushed to the end of the session thereby creating chaotic turmoil as each legislature scrambles in the waning hours of the session to find more revenue to meet projected spending as opposed to cutting spending to meet projected revenues. Therefore, the Alabama Patriots Tea Party Coalition calls on the legislature to pass the state budget not later than the fifteenth legislative day of the session.

Welcome Back Alabama Legislature from Tea Party Coalition

Alabama Tea Party Coalition Objectives for 2013 :
and Statement of Purpose by the 12 January 2013 State Conference
In pursuit of these objectives, the Alabama Tea Party Coalition has listed the following issues and bills as absolutely vital and request their earliest passage:
* The Informed Voter Act.
* Complete repeal of the Common Core Standard Initiative. Education is a state issue and control should remain at the local level. The federal Department of Education should have no role in Alabama Education.
* Protect and preserve our Second Amendment rights with a comprehensive package of legislation:
* Right to bear arms, strict scrutiny standard required for certain denials of rights as a constitutional amendment. This law is of such a critical nature, we call for a special election vote in 2013.
* Transport of firearms and ammunition in motor vehicles, otherwise legal.
* Firearms, accessories, and ammunition manufactured in this state, under Commerce Clause of U. S. Constitution exempt from federal regulation. * Alabama Law for Alabama Courts Act.
* Prohibit Foreign law appliation, as current application by courts in violation of rights guaranteed United States and Alabama citizens,

** Protect and uphold Healthcare Freedom per the recent 2012 Constitutional Amendment to the Alabama Constitution with the following actions:
o Stop any MEDICAID expansion and pursue comprehensive MEDICAID reform.
o Protect Alabama citizens from being forced into federal healthcare programs.
o Ensure Alabama does not establish any Federally directed health care exchanges.
0 Rescind and repeal the call of the state legislature for a Federal Constitutional Convention (as passed in SJR100). America does not need a new Constitution. We must abide by the one we have.

ALABAMA WINTER WELCOME BACK RALLY MONTGOMERY

The Shoals Patriots and Athens/Limestone Patriots are hosting a Statewide Winter Welcome Back Rally in Montgomery, AL. Several Alabama Tea Party organizers are working to insure the success of this rally.

Our goal is to encourage legislators to pass a State Sovereignty and Gun Rights Resolution during the 2010 Session!!

Date: January 19, 2010
Where: Alabama State House South Union Street Montgomery, AL
Time: Noon @ 1 p.m.

You may say, Why January? Its too cold! That is because this is a Working Rally! Our legislators are in for the normal session and it is only 15 weeks, so we must start early to get this legislation passed! In order for the resolution to pass it must go through the House, Senate and the Governor. We cannot afford to miss this chance! Below are more reasons this rally is important:

This will be the 3rd time this State Sovereignty Resolution has been introduced in the House by Rep. Mac Gipson. Not only does this Resolution mention our 9th and 10th Amendment rights, but it mentions our 2nd Amendment rights (Right to Bear Arms) as well. Clearly this Resolution is not going to pass itself. The Rules Committee has held it up in the past and may not let it onto the House floor for a vote!! We must unite as a State and show our support!!

* A Special Meeting with Representatives is scheduled for 11 a.m., for those who help with getting petitions signed. If you are interested in this effort, please contact us. Also, make sure we know you are attending the meeting. We will arrange for seating, but you will be responsible for arranging for your representative to be there. We will make every effort to make arrangements for everyone who participates.

* This is an important way that Alabama can send a message to Washington, D.C. Hands off our State Rights!! This resolution is the States way of serving notice and demand to the Federal Government to cease and desist any and all activities outside the scope of their constitutionally-delegated powers. This is nothing radical, (We are NOT promoting Secession!). This is the States legal way of reminding the Federal Government of what is plainly stated in the U.S. Constitution.

* IF our efforts fail to stop Cap & Trade, National Health Care and Several other bills/treaties on the Federal level, we will then rely on our State to defend our God-given rights! This resolution is the first step in that direction. Alabama is Oou 2nd line of defense! We are not alone in this Alaska & Tennessee have already passed similar resolutions and other states are in the process.

* This Rally will give our state legislators a chance to meet and see us. We want our message to be clear Save Our State! If you share these concerns please join us at The Winter Welcome Back Rally. Lets stand together to get this important piece of legislation passed - This session! This is Your chance to make a difference for You and Your family.

If you share these concerns please join us at The Winter Welcome Back Rally. Let's stand together to get this important piece of legislation passed THIS session! This is YOUR chance to make a difference for YOU and YOUR family.

Huntsville Tea Party

The Huntsville Tea Party provides additional information. This Friday is the "Nationwide Health Care Freedom Protest" where we will be meeting at congressional offices around the country to protest and keep the Nationalized Health Insurance bill and Cap & Trade bills from passing. Right before this email, I sent out one that goes into detail about the health care bill and how we can fight it. It includes lists of who to call in which committee as this bill moves forth - and it is moving forth towards passage now. Please be sure to read that important email!

It's time to act!! If you stand for individual liberty and limited government, if the Tea Parties are truly more than just talk for you, meet us this Friday, July 17th, from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at the location of the Tax Day Tea Party (the vacant lot across the street from the Post Office on Clinton Ave.) Bring SIGNS and LETTERS to Parker Griffith. He voted against Cap & Trade when it passed the House and says he is against the Kennedy bill "as it is", but has also said he believes health care is a right and that he is for comprehensive government reform of our health care industry. Bring letters from your family, friends, and co-workers who can't make it! If you are unable stay for the full hour, simply drive into the parking lot, hand your letters to Jan Nolin (will have a name tag and be visible), and be on your way! If you cannot attend, please phone/fax/email Parker Griffith. We will be delivering the letters to Parker Griffith at 1:00pm - his local office is only a few blocks from this site. We want LARGE numbers at this event, like always, but the Huntsville Police Department has required that, for safety reasons, only 70 walk together to Griffith's office to deliver them. Please come and stand with us from 12:00pm - 1:00pm! Remember to park on Lot K (the back entrance will be open.) Please remember to contact Senators Sessions and Shelby via phone/fax/email about these issues, as well. All of our federal elected officials need to know what we want.

We have one need: We are looking for a couple of Parking Volunteers because the City has requested this! Please email Jan at tables@huntsvilleteaparty.com if you are able to do this for us! We don't expect this to require much work, but just need a few volunteers in case.

It's time to keep the pressure on!! We will not go away, we are here to stay and restore our country to the great Republic it was intended to be.

Thank you for everything you do, and God bless,

Description This event is part of the Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party event sponsored by TCOT (Top Conservatives on Twitter), DontGo Movement, and SmartGirl Politics, and will be held simultaneously with many cities and states across the country! It is number 2 in our 10 round movement leading up to the 2010 Congressional election. Our goal is to VOTE OUT the big spenders and return America to the Republic it was created to be, and stop the big government and socialist practices that have become all too prevalent and detrimental. Theme for this rally: "Repeal the Pork; Cut Taxes."

WHEN: April 15th, tax day WHERE: The vacant lot across the street from the post office on Clinton Ave. TIME: 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm

We will have four speakers: Matt Chancey (ran for Public Service Commission), Paul Sanford (in the Republican primary run off for Senate Seat in District 7), Sam Givhan (also in the Republican primary run off for Senate Seat in District 7), and Chuck Bailey (with FairTax.org.)

This is a NON-partisan movement. This is a completely grass roots effort made up of average Americans, and many have never done anything like this before. We are organized nationally (through our three main sponsors) and locally. Organizers attend conference calls to exchange ideas and give updates, and the strength of this entire movement is in everyone's ability to work together seamlessly and efficiently to accomplish our goals. Events are strategically held nationwide and simultaneously in order to achieve maximum effectiveness.

We the People are all standing up and getting things done. This rally will be a time of standing together for our rights and against the atrocities we have been watching in Washington D.C. This is a time of SOLUTIONS, and solutions will be the focus and main message. Conservatism, limited government, Capitalism, cutting taxes in the time of a recession, decreased debt, personal responsibility. We want to inform more people and get people to stay active on all levels of government. We want to VOTE OUT the politicians in Washington that have voted or supported these massive spending bills.

We will have voter registration set up, as well as the opportunity for you to be put on a mass contact list for future rally updates as well as nationwide updates. You can also input your information NOW, to receive nationwide updates, at www.taxdayteaparty.com.

On December 16, 1773, a group of colonists boarded ships and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party was the symbolic start of our battle against British tyranny and taxation. On Saturday, August 9, 2003, the Alabama Tea Party was the symbolic beginning of our overwhelming defeat of the largest planned tax increase in Alabama?s history.

Birmingham Tea Party

For the Birmingham Tea Party, the Rainy Day Patriots lead the charge. On April 15, we?ll be throwing another Tea Party in Birmingham. this one to begin the overthrow of the greatest expansion of federal spending in our nation?s history. In conjunction with other Tea Parties to be held across the nation on April 15, the Birmingham and Shelby County Tea Parties have merged in order for Alabamians to provide the most incredibly successful event possible. Alabama tea party candidates

It's important that as many people as possible attend so we can ensure that our elected representatives in Washington hear our demand for limited government and a return to our constitutional roots. We?ll be holding a family-friendly rally starting at 6:30PM on Wednesday, April 15th. It will take place at Veteran?s (Spain) Park on Valleydale Road in Hoover. Additionally, Sean Hannity will be running a live stream from Tea Parties across the country and the Birmingham Tea Party will be one of them.

We'll have speakers, information tables, family and whole lot of fun. Also, don?t forget to your home-made, family -friendly signs, banners and posters. As we?ll be going from 6:30PM until well after dark, make sure you bring lawn chairs or blankets, something to eat or drink, and are prepared for wet weather should rain be in the forecast. Don?t forget diapers and bottles for the little ones.

Here are a few of the speakers from our tentative speaker line up:

* Matt Murphy - Dubbed The Mouth of the South, Matt Murphy currently hosts The Matt Murphy Show on The Big Talker, AM-1070 WAPI. Matt?s consistent small-government views are a breath of fresh air in a world dominated by liberal media. His role in the Alabama Tea Party will never be forgotten.

* Steve Shannon and Leah Brandon AM 960 of the Steve and Leah Show not only broadcast from WERC, but also on CBS 42's Wake Up Alabama. We?ve now added Alabama?s premier freedom rally to their speaking lineup.

* Lee Davis of 101.1 FMs will be adding his perspective about spending, deficits and Obamanomics. What?s a Tea Party in Alabama without awesome representation from WYDE?

* Robert Stacy McCain - Author, former Washington Times Assistant National Editor and current national political journalist Robert Stacy McCain will be bringing us inside-the-beltway updates, as well as his experiences in how to use the new conservative media to defeat the liberal-dominated press.

* Tim James is known for fiscal conservatism among the 2010 Alabama gubernatorial candidates. If you haven?t heard Tim speak before, nows your chance to hear someone who adamantly opposed Amendment One and adamantly opposes the current egregious federal spending legislation of today.

Considering our expectation of both local and national media attention, it's incredibly important that we present our message well. Please make a sign or poster for the event. Please keep it on message and family friendly. Reporters will be trying to highlight folks they can portray as wearing tin-foil hats, so please try to stay on topic.

If you'd like to help out, we?re trying something new this time around. At most events such as these, participating organizations tend to have their own tables. This time, we?re doing it by topic, with anyone who is interested passing out literature and such doing so. Please contact bhamteaparty@gmail.com if you are interested in promoting one of these topics: Fair Tax/taxation issues; economic issues, abortion issues, 1st Amendment rights, 2nd Amendment rights, the 9-12 project, immigration issues.

Right now, our ship of state is heading directly towards a collision with the deadly iceberg of socialism. It takes a lot of muscle to turn the rudder of such a ship, and yours is desperately needed on April 15th.

If you can make the event, please take the time to send this e-mail to your list of like-minded friends and family members. If you can?t make it to the Birmingham Tea Party, please put a bit more effort into sending this message to as many people as you can.

More Alabama Tea Parties

There are many more Tea Parties scheduled in Alabama through the American Family Association. For additional info see below contact info on a dozen more cities in Alabama.

Judge Roy Moore

Judge Moore will be speaking at the Tea Party in Orange Beach. Let us not forget the a lack of leadership when the special interest groups tried to impose the Billion Dollar Tax increases on the citizens of Alabama, with Amendment 1 in September 2003. It took Judge Roy Moore to stand up to the special interest groups when they tried to sneak by Amendment 2 in 2004. This Amendment 2 to the Constitution would have given the courts the ability the raise taxes with the excuse and authority of giving a child an equal education.

The noble efforts by Roy Moore has saved the tax payers billions of dollars that year and future years. Read more at: Judge Roy Moore

Robert Bentley is a medical doctor from Tuscaloosa, and was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in November, 2002. - Robert Bentley
Tim James is a business man from Greenville, and son of Governor Fob James. - Tim James
Ron Sparks was elected Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture in 2002. - Ron Sparks

Many Tea Party participants have been very concerned about campaign donations to the Dorman Grace campaign. Companies that are regulated by the Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture have made some major donations to his campaign. If an issue comes before the Alabama Agriculture Commissioner, will he be able to make fair and unbiased judgments? Further, it appears that these donations are clear violations of Alabama Law. From Alabama Public Service Commissioner Jim Zeigler has filed charges of ethics violations with the Alabama Ethics Commission. Hopefully this situation can be resolved prior to the election on June 1. It just makes sense that if you go before a judge or regulator agency, a fair decision is more likely to be made if those in authority have not be influenced by bribes or campaign donations.
Dorman Grace has had at least two ethics complaints filed against him. Reliable sources say that both accuse Grace of accepting illegal campaign contributions. He is one of three candidates for the Republican nomination for agriculture commissioner in the June 1 primary. Both complaints charge Grace with violating Section 36-25-12 of the Code of Alabama which states, the commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Industries and any candidate for the office of commissioner may not accept a campaign contribution from a person associated with a business regulated by the department. Both complaints list a number of contributions on Grace’s most recent Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) financial disclosure report

Zeiglers complaint cites eight specific contributions to the Grace campaign, totaling $64,300 from businesses and individuals involved in the deer breeding industry, which is regulated by the Department of Agriculture and Industries. The contributions listed on Grace’s January 28, 2010 FCPA filing and cited by Zeigler include: Ricky Cleveland, $6,950; Long Antler Ranch, $4,000; Triple R Whitetail Farms LLC, $100; Hytop Whitetails Inc., $100; S&L Leasing, $11,150; Dream Ranch LLC, $11,000; Lookout Valley Whitetails LLC, $1,000; and Double J Whitetails LLC, $30,000.
